Eti Buys — born Marieta Georgieva Kamburova in Russe, Bulgaria — trained in garden design and landscaping before reading Ecology Science at the Agriculture University of Plovdiv. After several years in England, she settled in South Africa in 2003 and founded the studio.
Twenty years later, Kimko remains a family-run studio — progressive, considered, environmentally minded. Eti and a long-standing team turn drawings into gardens that hold up for decades. The credo is simple: relationships built on honesty, fees that are transparent, and a love of plants that shows in the work.

Eti's training is in ecology — and the Cape is unforgiving terrain for gardens that ignore it. We design for long dry summers, sudden winter rain and persistent wind. Indigenous palettes where they fit. Smart irrigation everywhere. And Easigrass for the awkward corners where natural lawn refuses to live.
